Car Free Day Bling Your Bike Day – Friday 22nd September
Dorchester Transport Action Group (DTAG) with support from Dorchester Town Council and Sustrans have organised ‘Streets Alive!’- a Car Free Day Event at Acland Road Carpark on Friday 22nd September 2023. Car Free Day will be celebrated across the world to highlight the effects cars are having on climate change and air quality. To support this event and make cycling to school even more fun, we are having a ‘Bling Your Bike’ day where we would like to encourage all children to cycle or scoot to school with their bikes decorated with a colour theme!
There are lots of things you can use to decorate your bikes; bright or reflective materials, painted cardboard, streamers, pipe cleaners around the spokes, the possibilities are endless! As always, we ask that where possible, you use decorating items that you already have at home or items that can be used again, avoiding any plastic waste where you can. Whatever you come up with, please make sure the decorations don’t obstruct the controls or moving parts of the bike or scooter.
The children will be asked to parade their decorated bikes and scooters around the courtyard during school time and prizes will be given to the winners of each year group.
