What a busy week it’s been. From sunshine and ice to a short lived downfall of snow!
We’ve been multiplying in our classes and have started looking at ‘word challenges’ or ‘word problems’ like these:
We used some really clever language such as ‘factor’ and ‘product’ to help us work out what information we needed to answer questions like these.
We’ll soon start thinking about dividing too.
We had a familiar visitor in class earlier this week and enjoyed learning about how plastic breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces and makes its way through the river catchment to our rivers and streams before ending up in the sea. We then had great fun looking through water samples and looking for different invertebrates under a magnifying glass.
We also learnt about different tastes and how our tongue can taste flavours such as sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami. We enjoyed trying different foods to test these senses!
We very much enjoyed getting out in the snow; making snow-angels, snowballs and some (very small!) snowmen!.
In writing, we have been writing recounts about our trip and time in the snow as well as writing a section from the story ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’.
