Guided reading
This week we’ve started guided reading. We’ll be doing guided reading daily and you’ll notice a comment in your child’s reading diary once they’ve done this each week. Guided reading is a time for the children to practise their segmenting and blending when reading. Check out the guided reading support page here on the blog to find out more.
Dough gym
Dough gym is another daily activity that we’ve introduced into our timetable this week. The children will rotate around a variety of activities over the week that will focus on using their fine motor skills. This will help to strengthen the muscles in their fingers, hands and arms to make them successful writers.
This week the children will be practising their cutting skills, using tweezers, making towers, using their pincer grip to fill peg boards and using play dough.
Thank you for keeping us up to date with what are doing, much appreciated.
